Hey readers, let’s talk music. Do you ever hear a song that makes you want to turn up the volume to full blast and completely block out the world? Yeah, me too. Although I’ll probably be deaf by the time I’m 40, I still blast my music at any given chance. Music has always been my passion and I have well over 100 favorite songs. One thing that I love hearing is songs that are fun but that also have a deep meaning. I feel like a lot of artists only show one side of themselves within their music, and it’s the smiling, happy side. It’s human nature to hide when you’re hurting, so when I hear songs that are honest and real, I instantly love them. In the current world we live in, everybody struggles with all sorts of things. It’s great to hear music that’s honest because in a way it lets you know that your not alone. A singer/rapper that I enjoy listening to is Post Malone. He is such a talented artist and so far I have deeply enjoyed all of his songs. He’s got a really unique style that can give you a chill vibe or a fun vibe, but always positive.
Post Malone has written several of my favorite songs. One that I love by him is Sunflower. It’s got a beat made in heaven, I swear. The lyrics are catchy and fun and the song itself is just happy. I think Post Malone understands just how important music is to some people so he works hard on every song that he produces. From listening to his music, it’s clear that this singer experienced a lot of hardship, but I love that he’s not afraid to admit it. His music makes me feel good, like everything’s gonna be okay, even if it’s not right now. My absolute favorite song by him is Circles. It’s about how he’s holding onto a relationship that’s no longer good for him and how the love is no longer there. So, so, many people get into situations like this, and it sucks because it can feel like you’re the only one. One of the main causes I think, is feeling like you’re not good enough on your own. It creates a void that you are eager to fill. Because of that, you rush into something that just wasn’t meant to be.
As a result of rushing into a toxic relationship, Post Malone describes how much it’s wearing him down. He wants to be free but in his song “Circles” he explains that he doesn’t think he can let go. He’s trained his brain to think that he needs another person like he needs water to live. The relationship has gone bad for both him and the girl, but because of the fear of being alone, the two of them keep holding onto something that shouldn’t be. A lyric Post Malone uses to describe this feeling is, “Feed the flame ‘cuz we can’t let go.” With these words he’s telling us that he and this girl keep giving more and more of themselves to each other even though it’s only driving the two of them crazy. This song is really important because a lot of people do this and feel like they’re the only ones. This song is saying, “Hey, you’re going through this? Me too, it’s okay.” Everyone needs to hear that sometimes. This song is somewhat of a safe place for people who are in this situation. Circles is a perfect song in absolutely every way possible. Most songs either have a really great meaning, or a really great sound, and this one has both.
Every time this song comes on it gives me a rush of excitement that goes through my veins and straight up to my heart. This song very quickly became one of my feel good songs. I really appreciate how open Post Malone is. It’s both helpful, and encouraging. I can’t wait to hear what he drops next.
