Great one- Jessie Reyez

Hey readers, let’s talk music! Our artist today is Jessie Reyez. I enjoy a lot of her songs because she always has a very real message in her music. I really appreciate the honesty in her songs. I’ve mentioned it before but I think it’s important for artists to be real with their music because the more honest it is, the more people can relate to it and feel an actual connection. Jessie Reyez is absolutely gorgeous and her voice is stunning. My favorite part of a movie is its sound track, and I heard “Great one” in a movie that I watched a while ago and had it on repeat for weeks. It’s one of those songs, for me at least, that I can’t get tired of.

I understand how it feels to long to make something of yourself. I also want to be a great one someday. I want to be beautiful, successful, important. I don’t know what I’m going to do or who I‘m going to be, but I do know that I want to be great at it. I want to leave my mark on the world, which is partially why I started this blog. She sings about wanting to be good enough and wanting to make her family proud, and being able to support them. My family has always been supportive of me, and like Jessie Reyez sings about in this song, I want to give back to them. She also sings about how she’s in love and he’s her everything. I love this song so much because it’s really about goals and mine are very similar to hers. I want to fall in love and stay in love, I want to be successful and live the best life I can make for myself.

Some of my favorite lyrics in this song are; “What is life, what is love? What are lies what is trust? What is everything? Everything is nothing without you.“ I love these lyrics because I feel like it’s important to emphasize that love is the point of it all. I think it says a lot about her character that she includes this part. A lot of singers will talk or song about being successful and having it all just because of the money and fame. But Jessie Reyez sings about how even though all that is great, family and love is better. I respect that she has goals for money but she doesn’t loose sight of what’s most important because of that.
